Walton & Company Donates Services & Materials to Update Steam Into History Facility

Walton & Company recently donated their services and materials to help upgrade the Steam Into History facility located at 2 West Main St., New Freedom, Pennsylvania. It is important to get behind this educational organization that celebrates a piece of our nation's history. Walton & Company is thankful to have been able to give back.

Steam Into History Project

Steam Into History started operations in 2013 and has carried nearly 80,000 passengers on their steam locomotive, the York No. 17. This locomotive is a replica of the one that carried Abraham Lincoln to Gettysburg to deliver the Gettysburg Address and, two years later, served as his funeral train. You can visit the Steam Into History website to view hours of operation, special events, and admission fees. This non-profit organization is dedicated to preserving and teaching about an important time in history.
Walton & Company's Project Manager, Matt Knepper, worked with new and donated materials and equipment and coordinated the efforts of engineers, plumbers, sheet metal workers, and service technicians. Work included the installation of a new second-floor bathroom, installation of a kitchen sink, HVAC for a new meeting room, replacement of the second-floor office HVAC system, and an upgrade of the chimney in the Engine House that vents the exhaust from No. 17 when it is fired up prior to making a run.
It was our pleasure to help with this project for the Steam Into History facility. Walton & Company desires to give back to the community that we serve and this was the perfect opportunity to help improve a facility that serves many in our community and the surrounding area. “On behalf of the Board of Directors of Steam Into History, I want to thank Walton & Company for their help and guidance through our recent facility upgrades. We are thankful to have such a strong community partner who has a vision for the history and culture of York County”.
